đŸ„Šâœˆïž Yes or No: Could You React in Time?

The one factor you’re overlooking...

Hey Warrior,

What’s more important

Speed or Time?

What on earth am I talking about?

Well, what I mean is, in a self defense situation what’s more important?

Is it having fast reaction time?

Or is it having enough time to react?

This is an important question. Let’s explore.

The Video That Got Me Thinking

I came across this video online.

Two guys are arguing—right up in each other's faces.

Suddenly, one guy throws this big, looping haymaker.

The other guy?

He ducks just in time, comes up swinging, and knocks Mr. Haymaker clean out.

Now, this guy had crazy-fast reflexes.

But honestly, he also got lucky.

From that distance, most people aren’t reacting fast enough to dodge a punch.

This is exactly why distance matters so much.

Reaction Time vs. Reaction Space

You can train your reaction time.

You can drill movements until they're muscle memory.

But at a certain point, physics kicks in.

No matter how quick you are, if you're too close, there's just not enough time to see the punch coming and do something about it.

That's why smart fighters control their space.

If you maintain a safe distance, you give yourself a split second (or even just half a split second) longer.

And that tiny bit of extra time could mean the difference between ducking under that haymaker and getting your bell rung.

Control Your Space, Control the Fight

The biggest lesson here?

Control the distance.

If someone is getting aggressive, create some space.

Hands up. Step back. Angle your body.

Whatever it takes to buy yourself more reaction time.

Remember, your speed matters, but giving yourself enough time to react? That's priceless.

Stay aware. Stay smart. Stay safe.

Until next time,

Paul Simoes
